BPOM Product Registration

BPOM registration is mandatory for placing regulated products on the Indonesian market legally. It confirms that a product is safe, meets the applicable standards, and may be sold, imported, and distributed officially.

Important: BPOM is one of Indonesia's most complex regulatory procedures. The review covers the product, formulation, manufacturing, logistics, and storage.

Who generally needs BPOM registration:

• Food and beverage manufacturers
• Importers
• Cosmetics and personal-care brands
• Supplement producers

Products with a shelf life of less than six days often do not require BPOM registration. Imported goods, however, almost always require registration. Without it, the products cannot be imported officially or placed on sale.

Why the process is complex:

• The entire chain from manufacturing to the final sale is reviewed
• Every ingredient must be documented and permitted
• The product must meet Indonesian standards and rules
