The right to import, sell, and distribute the product legally in Indonesia

Details

BPOM registration is mandatory for placing regulated products on the Indonesian market legally. It confirms that a product is safe, meets the applicable standards, and may be sold, imported, and distributed officially.

Important: BPOM is one of Indonesia's most complex regulatory procedures. The review covers the product, formulation, manufacturing, logistics, and storage.

Who generally needs BPOM registration:

  • Food and beverage manufacturers
  • Importers
  • Cosmetics and personal-care brands
  • Supplement producers

Products with a shelf life of less than six days often do not require BPOM registration. Imported goods, however, almost always require registration. Without it, the products cannot be imported officially or placed on sale.

Why the process is complex:

  • The entire chain from manufacturing to the final sale is reviewed
  • Every ingredient must be documented and permitted
  • The product must meet Indonesian standards and rules
  • Revisions and additional documents are frequently requested
  • Any error can return the application to an earlier stage

Processing time: typically 6-7 months. In practice, difficult cases can take up to 16 months.

The timeline depends on the product category, complexity of the formulation, country of manufacture, availability of laboratory tests, document readiness, and response time when BPOM raises questions.

What we do:

  • Complete a full audit before the process begins
  • Review the formulation and eliminate preventable risks in advance
  • Prepare all documents and labeling
  • Register the company in the BPOM system
  • File each product and manage the process
  • Arrange laboratory testing
  • Handle communication with BPOM
  • Respond to questions and revise the documents
  • Stay with the project until registration is issued

Why specialist support matters: BPOM is a complex system with many details that are not obvious without practical experience. Even when all documents appear complete, a mismatch or formal error can stop the process.

Many companies never reach approval because the file is returned for repeated revisions.

We are one of the few teams that accepts these registrations and manages them through to a result across different product categories.
